Basking in the Glow

The sun shined one of its brightest smiles on this fair city today; bright prismatic sunshine that infiltrated every crack and crevice throughout. It is our time to shine. New Orleans and the entire region are basking in the glow of the Saints’ historic Superbowl victory. It meant so much more than just a football game. And it’s Carnival Time. And we elected a promising new mayor. Blatant joy is everywhere to be felt, seen and heard. It’s like the planets have aligned, destiny, fate, something indiscernible. Our cups are overflowing when not very long ago they were almost empty. I think the world is watching. I hope they are. I wish this city’s joy is strong enough to touch all the people and places that showed us goodwill in our time of need. These are the things that New Orleans should be known for; this beautiful, elegant, decadent, disheveled, misunderstood, incubator percolator mystical town. These are days that will be proudly remembered for many years to come.
